Thermo-electrochemical Cells

A redox reaction is the key to making a battery and generating electricity in our devices. Different pairs of redox couples might require different conditions to react. Scientists in the topical field of electrochemistry are working toward finding the alternatives to resolve our energy crisis. The application of redox experiment includes harvesting wasted heat and transferring it into electricity as some redox reactions are heat dependent. The redox experiment that uses heat is called thermoelectricity.

Module 2: Thermo-electrochemical cells: Sustainable Production of Energy

This Module is divided into two tasks. Task 1 reviews redox reactions and Task 2 involves a thermoelectricity experiment.

The lab extension is used to keep the record of thermoelectricity experiment followed by comprehensive questions that require critical thinking and in-depth understanding of thermoelectricity experiment.
